Well, actually this is a female Downy Woodpecker, but I needed the cartoon reference. She has been visiting alot lately to eat our suet. I seem to recall a red-headed male a few times also, so there must be a new couple in the neighborhood.

Party people
We celebrated Claudia's first birthday with friends and lots of kids and, thankfully, spring-like weather! The highlight of the day was the towing of a car on our street. Next year we have promised dueling bulldozers! Henry stuck it out til the bitter end - falling asleep watching the Super Bowl.

Party preparations
Well ... my legs are killing me! I have spent way too much time working on cupcakes and a birthday cake in honor of Claudia's first birthday. It should not have taken me this long! How did those merry 1950s housewives do it - and in heels?!? Surely not.
While fixing the sweets for tomorrow I heard a couple more Henryisms I would like to pass along-
"pupcakes" for cupcakes - this is truly adorable
"mushrooms" for marshmallows - makes sense
